STReeT/NIGHT

Street/Night

WORLD PREMIERE, THURS. JUNE 5TH, 8PM at The Sneaky Possum

STREET/NIGHT is a film that explores the inter/play between what a space is, and where the soul, muse, past/present of space comes into being.

It uses the everyday experience, but then re-interprets this through the lens of different dimensions of experience. Does the past see us? How does a place acquire meaning, and what is that meaning? Are we in time, or just visualising an existential hurdy-gurdy of play?

Created after months of work by the team at GuniBina Films (GuniBina.com), STREET/NIGHT is an important film that lets Chippendale itself, become the subject and object of meaning.

Inertia

Sydney smooth-metallers Inertia have announced an Australian tour this April, supporting the release of their masterful debut album Second Shadow‘, released last year via Resist Records. Joining Inertia across the East Coast is up-and-comers Headwreck and Synge

Inertia have forged their path as one of Australia’s most exciting alternative acts, and they tightened their grip on modern metal with the release of ‘Second Shadow’. The quartet bend and break the boundaries of their genre, targeting fans of Loathe, Spiritbox, Thornhill and even at times The Weeknd and SZA. The band bring elements of dark pop and soul to the forefront as they explore the darkest corners of metal music and add to it their own sprinkling of emo pop.

Showcasing their craft across Australia, Inertia, Headwreck and Synge will kick things off in Sydney at The Lansdowne Hotel on Saturday April 19 before travelling to Brisbane to play Black Bear Lodge on Saturday April 20, on to Jive Bar in Adelaide on Friday April 25 and concluding in Melbourne on Sunday April 27 at Bergy Bandroom

SIMON SVOBODa – PHOeNIX CeNTRaL PaRK

Influenced by composers like Arvo Pärt and modern artists such as Thom Yorke, Simon Svoboda’s work on Kaamos highlights his ability to merge traditional classical elements with contemporary minimalism, solidifying his status as a complex and intriguing artist.

Simon Svoboda

Australian/Finnish, Finland-based musician Simon Svoboda strives to be the most versatile musician he can be. Aside from being an active part of the Finnish classical scene, Svoboda is part of ‘Aspen String Quartet’, performs frequently with his cello duo ‘Simon and Tommi’, and is also a keen composer and arranger, having worked with music and fashion icons such as Ecco2K and Vincent Catani. In the past two years however, Svoboda has found inspiration to compose minimalistic music for his cello and voice. His recently released EP titled ‘Kaamos’ (the Finnish word describing the darkest period of the year where the sun seldom rises) is a 5-piece work inspired by different elements of winter in Finland.
