THe PLaYeR KINGS – THe SeYMOUR CeNTRe

“Let us sit upon the ground and tell sad stories of the death of Kings”

The Player Kings

The Player Kings is an extraordinary and unforgettable offering and the biggest undertaking in Sport for Jove’s history. This is Damien Ryan’s brand-new adaptation of Shakespeare’s great history cycle – the epic theatrical mirror Shakespeare held up to the eternal human struggle to lead, love and learn to live together.

Featuring a world-class cast, some of the finest actors of Shakespeare in the country, people whose capacity for language and depth of understanding is a promise of something very special. A hugely inventive and genuinely immersive experience, The Player Kings reimagines a Globe-like arena on the York stage at Seymour Centre.

Experience the magic! Watch the two parts on back-to-back nights or, for the ultimate adventure, immerse yourself in our Saturday marathon, complete with a delightful dinner break.

RICHaRD III – THe SeYMOUR CeNTRe

“Bad is the world; and all will come to nought, when such ill dealing must be seen in thought.”

Richard III

Sport for Jove’s Richard III is an essential tool for students to come to grips with this play’s innate theatricality and plethora of challenging characters when comparing it to Al Pacino’s Looking for Richard. Don’t let your students miss this opportunity to see and hear the play live.

Don’t miss this exciting production of one of Shakespeare’s greatest plays, Richard III – another example of the exceptional clarity and accessibility for which the company has become renowned.

THe 78-STOReY TReeHOUSe – THe SeYMOUR CeNTRe

A play by Richard Tulloch, adapted from the book by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton.

The 78 Storey

Andy and Terry’s treehouse just keeps on growing. With yet another 13 levels, it’s now got a Scribbletorium, a high-security potato chip storage facility (guarded by one very angry duck!) and even an open-air movie theatre.

Speaking of movies, our friends are going to be famous! The legendary Mr Big Shot has arrived to make a Hollywood blockbuster! But when his first step is to fire Andy and replace him with a monkey – well, a gibbon named Mel Gibbon – the battle is on. Will the Treehouse Blockbuster ever get made? Who will win the battle of Andy and Terry? And why are those mysterious spy cows turning up everywhere?

The team behind The 13, 26, 52 & 91-Storey Treehouse shows brings the blockbuster 78-Storey Treehouse back to the stage! Recommended for children aged 6-12 and their adults… but watch out for those cows!

aIR TIMe – THe SeYMOUR CeNTRe

A chaotic nexus of wheels, dance and parkour.

Air Time

Skate ramps tower over you, propelling BMXers, skaters, dancers, and parkourists with extreme speed and height. Air Time is a thrilling nexus of wheels in motion with the elegant flow of dance and parkour.

Festival favourite Branch Nebula returns with a hair-raiser – the anarchic street energy of Air Time is set to be exhilarating, with the risk and danger of bodies on foot and on wheels colliding in a confided space.

In Air Time, Branch Nebula comes full circle with a return to the theatre and a more complex and spectacular show, using the knowledge of the artforms and subcultures informed by nearly two decades of immersing its artists and audiences in street-style performance.

THe WHaRF ReVUe: THe eND OF THe WHaRF aS We KNOW IT – The SeYMOUR CeNTRe

After twenty-five years in the harsh and unforgiving spotlight of politics, The Wharf Revue has decided to step away from public life.

The Wharf Revue

“It’s an opportunity to spend more time with family,” said a spokesperson. “At the end of the day, this is about the need for renewal. We’ll serve one last term to max out the super and then try to pick up some kind of consultancy work or do a series of “Survivor” – look, it’s too early to say but it has been an honour to serve the Australian people.”

Many public figures who’ve appeared in the show regularly over the years are lining up for a place in the final hurrah: Keating, Howard, Downer, Costello, Gillard, Abbott, Carr and other throwbacks too numerous to mention. Those who bear the torch of democracy today: Lambie, Hanson, Bandt, Dutton and Albo – a veritable “Who’s that?” of Australian politics.

So join us for this joyous yet bitter-sweet send-off to one of the great national theatrical institutions – but please, no flowers by request.
